The middle of a session is where things quietly fall apart. The instinct is to ask another question. Usually the room needs a different kind of conversation, and someone to say so.
Professional facilitators earn the room's trust by knowing where the group is, where it needs to go, and saying it out loud. The map gives you that at three moments in every session.
